Uzbekneftegaz Channels off Nearly $100Mln for Energy-saving Technology
The oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan is planned to implement 11 projects worth about $100 million to optimize energy consumption.
“As part of the energy and resource-saving program is planned implementation of 11 projects worth a total of $100 million. According to preliminary estimates due to their implementation in the oil and gas industry it would be possible to save about 100 million kWh of electricity, 100 thousand Gcal of thermal energy, and to produce additionally about 4 million kW of electricity for own needs,” said the chair of Board of the Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company, Shokir Fayzullaev.
In particular, in the fields of Yangi Karatepa, Turtsari, Shirkent, Shurtan will be installed mini power stations, which through utilization of about 5.9 million cubic meters of associated gas produce 18 million kWh of electricity. Another project with a mini power station working on associated gas at the deposit Sardoba ($4.7 mln) will generate electricity in the volume of up to 4 megawatt and savings amount to 17.5 million kWh of electricity. Installation of photovoltaic panels for electricity supply of facilities of JSC Uzbekneftegazdobycha ($10 million) will save about 7.3 thousand kWh of electricity.
It should be mentioned that President Islam Karimov signed May 5 a Decree ‘On the Program of measures to reduce energy consumption, introduction of energy saving technologies and systems in the fields of economy and social sphere for 2015-2019.’ As previously reported, in Uzbekistan by 2030 the energy consumption will rise against the current approximately two times and will exceed 105 billion kWh.
